Why The Most Recent Chanel Show Is So Important
Posted by

Something to drool over.
An art form completely of its own.
The root of all inspiration.
This is what Couture is to me. Chanel checks off all three of these characteristics and brings their own rebelliousness to the game as well. With all of the recent, newly-innovated fashion runway still-life "presentations", thanks to Kanye love yah boi, Chanel decided to bring runway back to its roots and not concoct up a grand supermarket theme or airport themed runway show. No, they said. Instead, the Couture house decided to evoke the true passion that comes from this industry, that is the textiles, and create a minimalist theme for the aesthetic of the runway. Karl is forcing us to focus on the beauty that is the clothing, and we must, in a time of such innovation, not forget how this whole fashion runway thing once began. Now let your eyes feast and your spirit become ignited on our favorite runways looks from the show seen below.

1) Favorite Trend of the Event: Plunging Necklines in Black
Bella & Adriana were just a few of the celebrities last night who sported the plunging neckline look to the 2016 Grammy's. Not only are the females of the modern day wanting to show off their rock-hard abs and heavenly curves through dress, but they are succeeding at doing so in black silhouettes that are basically to die for.

To be a Stone Cold Fox has two meanings.
Stone Cold Fox:
1) (Noun) A boss ass bitch who believes in the power of the female, never waivers on her confidence, and has the ability to enhance her celestial force with a little bit of lace and leg. "Damn, you are one Stone Cold Fox".
2) (Noun) A California based clothing brand that provides "the delicacy of vintage clothing and seeks to make it fresh again". "Stone Cold Fox's latest collection killed the game".

This new norm has caused us to redefine our habits for this typically dull season- making Sundays a day for filling our bones with inspiration rather than the cold. Hilfiger Is Back With A Splash

Tropical meets preppy, a genius blend of Crayola box hues, Gigi Hadid's most memorable moment- so many different motifs can be taken away from Tommy Hilfiger's most recent presentation in NYFW this past week. Allowing his models to transcend off of the runway, into the depths of the blue Jamaican waters, Hilfiger constructed a make-shift ocean to surround the walk-way in which the models glided through for the final walk.

The fashion world is a place with many doors. Lucky for us in college, most of those doors begin to open when summer break starts. Stepping into the unknown and fuzzy abyss of corporate retail can be daunting at first- all the grey cubicles, the infinite rows of desktop computers. But after looking closer and actually experiencing the reality of this world, it is truly an inspiring place. One that never pauses for a moment and is constantly fluctuating, full of many different types of people- the analyzers the creators, the movers the shakers who are all so passionate about the essence of their brand that they themselves become it. Wishing that someone had eased my nerves of this beautiful and powerful industry before entering it, I am going to outline some tips that will ensure you as a success in this beautiful world that we call retail.

Going against the norm of holding a fashion show to preview a fashion line, Wildfox instead recently held a presentation that gave some sneak peeks into their Fall 2015 collection. This unconventional presentation took place in Little Italy of New York and the entire collection is inspired by the Italian culture that consists of gourmet food, exotic accents, and beautiful humans. Wildfox is known for their witty sayings and luxurious lounge-wear that is fit for a Fashion Queen. Fashion shows alone are one of Earth's greatest art forms, but when this type of art is combined with a pasta-dinner that can be eaten during the presentation, a true utopia has been formed. Not only is this way of presenting a collection genius because of the added food aspect, but also because it makes the clothing instantly applicable to real-life just by previewing the pieces in a real-life situation.
Spring Break, Mara Style!

Spring break- a time to forget about all of your worries and pretend that life's simple pleasures are the only thing necessary to focus on. Oh how beautiful it would be to have this mentality of Spring Break throughout the entire year! Life swallows us all and it is important to climb your way out of that abyss and feast your eyes upon the beauty that is Earth. Mara Hoffman, a brand cultivated out of NYC but looks to be stolen from the minds of the tropical Gods, focuses her products on the saturated colors of the world and the creatures that inhabit it. The brand's major motif of the 2015 collection is the bird, an animal that can experience the highest and lowest points of all life and exists in every imaginable color scheme. Whether this specific choice of the bird was meant to connect to the experiences of the human or not, it makes for a gorgeous pattern on the various espadrilles, bikinis, and dresses that Mara chose to put it on.
The Superstar

The fashion game used to be about conforming yourself to fit a brand. This is a thing of the past thanks to the innovation of the new sneaker world. Now, you as the consumer have the ability to find something personal within a brand that speaks directly to you, similarly as your neighbor can find something completely different that speaks to their personal interests and aesthetic. With the rise of the popularity and relevancy of the Adidas Superstar sneaker, Pharrell has implemented these personal techniques within the Superstar, which will change the world of shoes and potentially the entire world of fashion. With the multitude of colors covering every hue on the color wheel, it is definitely going to be hard to decide what color will suit your personality best. Allow this color choice to define who you are and teach you a little more about yourself. Locally, stop in to Sole Classics on March 27th to snatch the first releases of the blue and red Superstar.
Resort Feels

FINALLY- the weather is beginning to warm up and the sunshine is coming back into our lives. Being the summer-lover that I am, I get way too excited to whip out the kimonos and jean shorts once the temperature rises above 40 degrees. Despite the constant staring from confused strangers on the street and my permanent goosebumps, spring clothing, in my opinion, is not only allowed but expected once the slightest hint of spring reveals itself. Self-proclaiming the fact that there should be a fashion season in between winter and summer, the looks that are showcased below would be the perfect example of various outfits for this non-existent, transitional season.

The Height of Minimalism

Minimalism currently rules the world of fashion. Through the various trends of achromatic colors, sporty textiles implemented into clothing such as neoprene, and plain crop tops to be paired with a minimal-style jean this trend can be recognized easily and especially through the most recent look-books of retailers like Urban Outfitters, Madewell, and Free People. Showcased below is our take on this minimalistic trend that is suited for sporty or feminine fashionistas.
