My Top 3 Trends of the Moment

It's officially the Summer of 2016 and I'm ready to talk trends. But, let me be frank - I'm done with ~festival vibes~. Do I have a 4-day pass to Lollapalooza? OKAY, YES. But, that's besides the point! What am I wearing, literally, every other day of the summer? Thanks for asking. Keep reading for my TOP 3 Trends of the Moment...

NUMBER 1: VESTS

The vest has gone through a series of changes since it's very conception, making it one of those omnipresent trends. Last summer, suede and fringe took the vest by storm and soothed our festival-loving souls. What's so good about a vest? They're transitional pieces - they can transcend seasons and temperature changes (an essential to all Midwestern fashionistas.) However, a vest is nothing more than a glorified topper, elevating your once simple look. This season, however, I'm not just talking about any vest - I'm talking trench vests. Place one of these vests over just about any look and you seamlessly gain that classic, chic silhouette - with all the flaps and pockets a girl-on-the-go could ask for. Lose your sleeves and show some skin.

NUMBER 2: OFF THE SHOULDER

If vests aren't for you, go bare elsewhere with the off the shoulder trend. Like the vest, it's nothing new; this trend has proved it's endurance over the past few years, emerging in different lines and fabrics. Why buy into it? If we've learned anything from the 2016 runways, it's that our collarbone is our friend - and one of fashion's favorite places to highlight. Added bonus: the cut keeps your arms in place and elongates your neck. From crop tops to dresses, this trend is here to stay.

NUMBER 3: ONE-PIECES

One-pieces are that trendy look we've all been waiting to catch fire. It's that iconic, Marilyn Monroe-style sexy that holds in all your goodies while making you feel powerful and voluptuous. No better way to highlight your curves than to give them a hip-hugging outline. The one-piece shape I'm losing it over works for every body type. I'm talking zippers, cut outs, and buckles. Mixing the typical swimsuit with some utilitarian vibes works every time and hasn't been overdone. With these pieces, it's all about the details.
