Artist Spotlight: Our favorite Ohio native, Kaitlin Rose

Okay people, we know finding new music to listen to can be the most dreadful thing ever, especially when we have no idea where to start. Fear no more - our Artist Spotlight is on Kaitlin Rose (Kaitlin Henderson), a Columbus native who attends school for Music Business at Columbia College Chicago.

Along with being ridiculously beautiful (with great fashion sense, too!), she is one of the most talented people you will ever hear. She has pursued music for a majority of her life, from voice lessons, to musical theater, to producing her own seven song album - and we think she is worth the share.

Her first album, which released December 19, 2014, is titled Vaguely  Sad, and sells for the lovely, affordable price of $5. It runs along the lines of indie folk, singer-songwriter, and alternative folk pop. Vaguely Sad features six original songs and one cover (The Staves). Although you may think all of her songs will be just that, vaguely sad, you are wrong! There are a few twists here and there, and the tracks flow perfectly. Whether you need to cry, jam, or just feel good, this album has got it all.

Looking for ANOTHER reason to buy this CD? Kaitlin is a huge supporter of the Malala Fund, which helps young girls and women receive the education they deserve. For every $5 CD purchased, $2 is donated to this amazing fund. If you would like to know more about the Malala Fund or simply donate yourself, click here.

CD's are available for $5 by request through an email to toscano.8@osu.edu. Contact me for more information or if you are interested in purchasing! The album is available online for donations starting at $1, click here. Note that the online album only offers her original six songs, without The Staves cover. Kaitlin also has a SoundCloud with even more amazing covers and tracks to listen to! - click here.

Happy listening!
